Guide Profile:

Like perhaps many other guides there are skeletons in the closet. For many years I was in a family business manufacturing plastic novelties,baby waterproofs and toiletery bags. This is where I learnt all the aspects of Manufacturing,Admin,Time and motion study,repairing sewing and High Frequency plastic welding machines,cutting,effectively every part of this manufacturing business,even
pushing a broom. Later the business was sold,I stayed on for some while,before going into my own business; manufacturing mainly high fashion ladies outerwear,with at peak 80 employees. Absenteeism,low productivity,unions,bargaining councils ,red tape and major stress forced me to close the factory. Then I became a letting agent for one of the big property agents.

After this I wanted to do something I enjoyed.Having walked the mountains for nearly 35 years and was leading a large group of of avid hikers,I qualified as an advanced mountain walking leader guide. Time and too many hours on the mountain,caused wear and tear on my knees,forced me to look elsewhere. So enjoying sharing my knowledge and the inter action with people I became a tourist guide. Very different types of people,mountain lovers and tourists,but for most part enjoyable.
